The way I remember it is that I cross and twist, although it's with one pair and a gimp bobbin, instead of two pairs. DOesn't matter which side you're approaching from, the gimp and the nearest thread do a left-over-right, just like a cross motion. Then the gimp and the other thread do a right-over-left just like a twist motion (of course, a standard twist has two more bobbins doing the same thing). Since I work closed (CT, CTC, CTCT, all stitches start with a cross), it's easy to remember that passing the gimp starts with a cross, too. Whatever mnemonic device works, Robin P.
