Hello to you all, I have a small confusion with sylko thread. How come so many manufacturers made with the sylko name? Did Dewhusrt become Tootal as their labels still use the three shells motif? Then some sylko i have is made by coats- total confusion if you ask me.
There is additional confusion by having threads not listed by Brenda - (maybe I need to send you them or you can straighten me out via email). So; listed under Coats Sylko is 36 & 40 but I have 50. Then there's Coats Satinised (as earlier mentioned) which are 40 but i have two that are mercerised cotton and two that are machine twist. Is there any difference? I have the normal Dewhurst Sylko in 40 but also have a polyester thread by Dewhurst called "Star" Then to the Tootal Sylko threads which i have two types, both of which are mercerised. The first one shows a 40, where the list only gives 50. But the second spool type has no pile numbers - is this the 50? FINALLY I have a JAS Pearsall & co machine silk (50yds) "fine size" - is this the "superfine" listing?? Sorry to dump multiple queries on the list but I found it amazing what gems I found in an old sewing box.
