A friend gave me a pricking from Germany designed by Eva Thiele. With the pricking came the linen center for the doily - hemmed and hemstitched. The lace is then attached to the pricking during the working process with ordinary sewings. I must say I took the doily from the pillow with some reservation - I thought the lace would shrink and bubble the doily. It came off absolutely perfect and the doily is lying flat. I must say the centerpiece is round with scalloped edges and the lace is attached intermittently to the linen. I thought this was a very novel idea because attaching lace to linen is an ongoing problem for most people and with this it meant that the doily was finished when the lace was completed!!!
