For those that wanted to see a closer look at some of the samples, I
uploaded specific ones in question.  I scanned them in double the size at
150dpi.  I circled #2946 where it appears someone had tried to repair a
weaver. ;)

If you still can¹t view it large enough(some browsers will let you zoom in
on a pic using alt and the plus symbol[command and + for Macs]) I can email
you a close up.

I can only assume that these samples were made in mass quanitites for the
market(whether handmade on a pillow by some soul trying to make a living or
by machine), it is still interesting to know the history.  Thank you all for
your thoughts on this.
