In one of the Guild magazines there was once a story of a group of
lacemakers who travelled by bus daily to a course. On the last day of the
course, they were confronted by a group of construction workers who had laid
bets as to what this group of overweight ladies were carrying in their large
bags and most of them had laid a bet that they were carrying woks! The
construction workers thought that all the ladies looked as if they could
enjoy a good meal and they were probably attending a cookery course! I
think it was in Lace??
