Dear Arachnids

Not all authors and designers are so 'precious' about their work. I am always
delighted when I hear someone has used my patterns. The only time I was
annoyed was when someone started selling the small motif , now in one of my
books, and that was even before I had published the book and the pattern had
had the copyright symbol on it. Regarding using my patterns for classes. I
write books to pass on the knowledge I have enjoyed accumulating for many
years and I consider teachers using my books for their students to be a
compliment.

As my book on Torchon lace is no longer in print I do not mind if the patterns
(only the patterns) are copied and passed on free to a students providing my
name and the book name are written on them- but please do not abuse the
privilage. My book on Teneriffe lace has been out of print for many years and
I have asked Jeri and Tess to put it on the website of lace books that can be
freely downloaded. I expect they will let you know when it is available.

Happy lacemaking

Alex
