Hi Janice,
I found the same "catching" difficulty when working with Soie Ovale in
Cluny (lightly spun filament silk) and when spinning silk. It was
suggested to me that I try a product from Crabtree & Evelyn which I
have found works pretty well to smooth dry skin and keep it from
snagging the silk fibers. It is actually two complementary products:
one with which to wash your hands which contains a grainy material to
help exfoliate the skin, followed by a moisturizing cream. It is
called La Source Hand Therapy and Hand Recovery. I also noticed a
"Silk Spinner's" cream on the Treenway site Bev posted last night.
Might have to try that one sometime too!

to a Pipers silk I have used in the past. My fingers are in a bad
state after
spending some time getting the flower borders in a reasonable state
before our
hot and humid weather arrives, so just touching the silk to wind yet
more
bobbins is difficult.
