A couple of things come to mind. Though not with everyone's decor, I think that most anyone needs a trinket box for their dresser or nightstand, so lace could be used on a lid. There must be ways to protect it aside from it being mounted in some of that clear resin. <gasp> Even if it doesn't fit one's decorating style it would at least be related to a drawer to hold something precious or perhaps used regularly, like to hold a favorite pair of earrings, etc. Also, a little piece in a frame can be used to fill in a bare spot in a group of pictures, singly in a bathroom nook, or even above a key holder near an exiting door in the house, or entry for guests to enjoy. That same framed piece can be hinged to a box, can't it? (If you are or have someone around who is handy with tools). I tend to think things that things worn on one's person has so much of one's personal style involved, that something domestic may more likely be appreciated, and if "protected" will endure a bit of abuse. Other than that we are back to hankies or bookmarks. If a sun catcher, perhaps with a faceted crystal within, below, or smaller ones worked throughout would work, but sun is so hard on things. One would have to choose a fiber that can endure, or suggest a north or east window exposure. So many people don't realize the work involved, that sometimes an errant part of me wants to include with the item: "Made with 200 hours of Love" or something to let them know they were thought of with every stitch, and also that much was invested. ;-) Best,Susan Reishus
