As someone on Comcast, I can safely say that the problem is with this
provider. Several years ago, they swallowed up (big fish eats little
fish...) Adelphia, a cable TV and internet provider who was on the verge
of bankruptcy. I happen to be in a region previously served by
Adelphia, and Comcast made it known some time ago that they wanted to
get rid of this region!! The only reason I am still with them in spite
of the problems is that there just isn't another high-speed option for
me presently.
So, we continue to hobble along, on outdated equipment which causes
mysterious problems that are difficult to diagnose and fix. And their
customer service department is very adept at blaming the problems on my
equipment or some other factor unrelated to their service.

Comcast, just have to use gmail to get the answer back to them....most
