I get my email through Mozilla Thunderbird. I like their mail program so much better. But still, my *server* is Comcast. I admit that I don't know enough about all this stuff to know where the problems occur, but I sure get enough to think Comcast is the culprit.

Two weeks ago, while out at Sweet Briar, I was able to connect to their wireless service, but once there was completely unable to get on to the internet! I could not get my email on my laptop! Several people were able to get on early in the week, but then could not get toward the end of the week. Others had no problems at all. I finally resorted to getting my email on my iPod... and had no trouble with that at all. Very curious.

I know it is that provider, and they confirmed it. Back when I used to have Comcast as a provider I had issues with receiving e-mail, I neither received them, and most of the time the sender would not get a message that I didn't receive the message. When I confronted customer service, they told me it was a benefit for their customers, because it was meant to prevent spam from getting through. And if I was unhappy with it, they recommended I open a hotmail account. I got tons of spam in my comcast account, just not the messages I did want. But as Clay said, there was not really any other option that did what we needed. When I got really annoyed, I did as they suggested, and went to gmail. Much less spam, and I get the messages I want. :)

As someone on Comcast, I can safely say that the problem is with this provider.
