I think it might be better described as "the beginning determined by how we're going to do the end" I know the book's English sub-title is "The Beginning of the End" but from my reading of the book Ulrike's view was how/where you start a piece should be governed by how you're going to finish it. I suspect there are some "techy" linguistic definitions appropriate here ( or is it because the German "von" means both "of" and "from"?)
