I belong to two groups and both meetings are in rooms at local libraries. The larger group pay rent to the library every year for the use of the room. I think they kind of discount the rate as we meet for 4 hours once a month but the do not charge us for two half days of usage. We don't have a secure place for our library and I was wondering where the roll-able, lockable storage came from. Our librarian has to bring the books when and if she attends, so it is not a very satisfactory arrangement. If we were able to find a suitable storage unit, maybe the library would let us leave it in one of the closets off the room we use. Some of the members in this guild also meet during the week in a room at a bank. No idea if this is free.
We did meet in a church hall years ago but if there was a church activity we were relegated to the basement where the light was terrible for lacemaking. The other group is limited to 10 people in the free room at another library. If we grow beyond that we would have to pay about $40 rent. As we meet weekly this would become exorbitant, so we do not encourage new members but point them towards the other guild. Whoever posted about storage units, please post where you found them.
