Dear Deanna,

I own the two books from the Jewish Museum in Prague. Too bad you are in
Texas, so far from Maine. I suggest you read what was written in 2004 by
Leonard, Avital, Tamara and myself after the OIDFA-Prague Congress:

2004 ones.

My memo gives lots of info on e-mail addresses, and that there was a CD.
I do not know if it is still available and would play on American
equipment. You'd have to ask what they've made available in the last 5 years..

These book purchases have a story. I went with my elderly Hungarian
friend via train from Budapest to Prague for the OIDFA Congress. When we
arrived at the outskirts of Prague we learned the train would not go to the
city
center. We had a terrible time finding a cab to take us to the Congress
site. Language was a barrier, and we imagined possibility of crime. (The
drivers stood around arguing before one agreed to take us.) At the
university, the driver tried to charge too much, and a lace staffer helped
with that.

In the lace salesroom we came upon a small display of the two books from
the Jewish Museum. The larger one weighs a lot! Thus, the smaller catalog
was more popular. Given my interest in books/library, I purchased both.
At the end of Congress, we returned to that out-of-the-city station, this
time with organizing help from the staff. One of my suitcases was all books.
Nearly all hardback. We received no help along the way, and it was
difficult to find the correct track (up a flight of stairs). The train
personnel were no help, and we had lots to load.

You think this is end of story? At airport when leaving Budapest, I sent
the book suitcase through with other luggage. When I went to board, I was
stopped by security officers who took my passport and led me back through
passport control to a small room where they had my case of books. By sign
language I was ordered to open it, they searched for dangers, I re-packed,
got back passport, and hoped it got to the plane. Finally, a steward said
he had seen it come aboard.

These are very precious books to me. If you have more questions regarding
them, perhaps I can help.
