Given copious free time, a request from the Smithsonian to whomever holds the Royal Records might be enlightening, surely a gift such as this will have been noted somewhere at the source. That would be my approach, now that I, too, have spent a lot of time musing on this. So interesting - the shawl and the circumstances, royalty and one citizen of distinction.
