The "oaktag" that I saw in a bookstore near Purdue
University in the sixties would substitute for this stuff as
sewing-pattern paper.  Don't know how it would do for prickings.

Alta Vista suggests that the word "oaktag" has been co-opted for a thick paper that isn't dark brown and glazed.
