But the information the RSN gives the media says it is made "using Carrickmacross techniques". So the media isn't really at fault here. I can see it, though. When you think about how Carrickmacross is made - well, you use tiny stitches to sew motifs onto a net background. Yes, in traditional Carrickmacross the motifs are blank fabric and then you go around and add in a cordonnet and further decoration as needed, but the basic concept is the same as sewing ready-made motifs onto a net background. So in a way the lace is indeed made with Carrickmacross techniques.
