After much fruitless internet searching I'm doing what I should have
done in the first place - ask the experts. So, does anyone in the UK know where I can get Stiffy stiffener for lace? This has been recommended to me for stiffening Christmas decorations using Gold Rush and Special Dentelle 80. Does anyone have any other suggestions for stiffening these decorations?>>
I too would like to know where I can buy Stiffy in the UK. I bought a bottle there about 10 years ago and shared half of the bottle with my friend. I got that one in a small craft shop in a small market twn in Gloucestershire but the shop has long since closed down. The bottle has lasted up to now but I only have about 1/4inch in the bottle left and would like to get some more next time I am in he UK.
I have a part bottle of Fray check that I inherited when my lace making friend died a few years ago. That is a white liquid in a similar bottle to the one Stiffy comes in, but I have not tried that yet as I don't think it would work so well.
I used Stiffy to stiffen the petals of the smaller flowers I made this year for my table centre, the 3 roses had wire around their petal edges so did not need painting with Stiffy. I really must find a way to put the photos of those flowers on the internet, time just runs away with me and haven't got round to it.
