A few years ago at an OIDFA conference I did one of the courses. The
teacher then stiffened the lace with artist's fixative and since then I have
used nothing else. It comes in a spray can and is sprayed on the lace on
the pillow. The other rules are there as well - covering the pricking with
plastic and then before spraying covering the pillow with old newsprint to
protect the pillow. After spraying, the lace must be dabbed with a tissue
to absorb the excess liquid. It can then air dry or be dried with a
hairdrier. I does not destroy the lustre of the lace as some of the other
stiffening agents. I do not know about eventually changing colour because
it has only been on the lace for a few years.
