Lyn, I agree that the fabric of a handkerchief should be the same fiber
as the lace - and, if possible the same weight. For the Flanders
handkerchief, a batiste cotton would be appropriate. I should think G
Street Fabrics would carry it, but I have had good luck getting nice
lawn and batiste from Martha Pullen, online.

For the linen Torchon, I am assuming handkerchief linen. Is that correct? I
have two kinds, one is a couple of Irish linen handkerchiefs purchased for the
purpose in Victoria, Canada, or handkerchief linen yardage purchased about 10
years ago. Obviously, anything used needs to be thoroughly washed and ironed.
But how about the handkerchief done in Egyptian cotton? For the interior
cloth, should that be cotton? And if so, where in the US? Any mailorder
sources from satisfied customers? I have no idea where to get cotton so fine.
Anyone in Chesapeake Region Lace Guild know if G Street Fabrics would sell
something like that? Anything available on 4th Street (Fabric Row) in
Philadelphia?
Any thoughts?

having a ball. I’ve got one inch done, at least. I can hardly stay away
from it.
