I first saw bobbinlace in a demo in 1965. It took me until 1973 before I met another person who knew what it was. She gave me Doris Southard's address. It was only in 1981 that I started seriously, with her book. Snail mail only,no internet, no books in the library. Advertisements in the IOLI bulletin were the only sauce of info about tools and equipment, aside from Doris' letters. (Snail mail membership, wait months for the bulletin to arrive.)
