Hi Pam, You are right... there's been no decision on commemoratives yet. Since we are talking two years out, I don't think we have to make a final decision yet. The discussion was put out this early in case the group decided on a lace project that would need lots of lead time.
A few people liked the lace idea but most people seemed to like the bobbins, shuttles, tools, and maybe even a cover cloth type of commemorative. We might even have another set of Arachne pins made. I believe that next year would be the practical time to propose specific bobbins and tools, etc. In the meantime we can decide if we want a logo... either a special one or use the one we have had in the past. I would be in favor of having Roseground as a supplier. You have been part of Arachne long before there was a Roseground. You are set up to sell online so currency would not be a big problem. As to cover cloths, the design could be drawn and be on a website for people to download, then any embroidery business could apply it to whatever style, size, or color cloth each person would like. I know there's a sewing store in my own town that can put any design in their computer and stitch it out. This is probably true of most cities. Thanks for the offer. Let's revisit it next year after we celebrate 19 years. In the meantime, let's all find some way to toast Arachen on April 12 for 18 years of Lace and Friendships. Arachne has taught me so much and led me places I would not have otherwise gone. ----- Original Message ----- From: Pam Sharples <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Wed, 20 Mar 2013 15:57:02 -0000 (UTC) Subject: [lace] Arachne 20 years commemorative bobbins/tools I am definitely a lurker but do check the list each day! I see that there has been quite a bit of chat about possibly having a commemorative bobbin to celebrate 20 years. I organised the 10th Anniversary bobbins - two designs on East Midlands, Continental and Honiton. We could offer the 20th anniversary designs via our on-line shopping website (Roseground) thus allowing secure payment etc. If I do get the go ahead, I will also look to offer some lace tools and possibly a tatting shuttle if I can source one suitable to be painted on - currently we only paint on basic plastic shuttles. Something for you all to think about! Pam Nottingham, England - To unsubscribe send email to [email protected] containing the line: unsubscribe lace [email protected].
