I don't think changes can be made to the list. It's an old and simple system, and we are here because it is owned and was set up and is paid for by one individual, Liz Reynolds, to whom we are all extremely grateful.
When changes, which can't happen, have been suggested in the past, groups such as Yahoo were set up and some Arachne members joined them, but most still remained faithful to Arachne, I think because of its immediacy. You can post a question, and almost immediately get an answer. We can't post pictures or other attachments, but so what? We have Flickr. And one extremely big advantage for me at least is that we don't get bombarded by adverts and other extraneous stuff. The message is all I want and that is what we get. Lace content: I acquired a very large, old, lumpy, polystyrene, large hexagonal pillow at a cost of almost nothing. It was rejected by others as being "past it". I took the cotton cover off, sanded the worst of the lumps off, put a piece of thick wool coating material from my fabric stash on top and replaced the cotton cover. I now have an almost new-feeling hexagonal pillow. I've now just got to grow my arms long enough to reach to the far side of it.
