This isn't lace-related, but it is list-related so I hope the ListMom will
forgive me for posting.

At the end of June, I was in the process of ordering some supplies from the UK.
This involves messages back and forth for various reasons, and we had just
started the messaging - I had given them my order and they had come back to me
with the shipping cost - when they stopped answering their e-mails. I sent them
more messages. No answer. After a week I thought maybe they had shut down or
something, so I telephoned.

That's when I discovered that they *had* been sending me messages, and were
wondering why *I* wasn't replying!

In Canada, new anti-Spam legislation took effect on July 1st, and my supplier's
messages had somehow been flagged as Spam. With the standard setup at my
service provider, anything flagged by them as Spam is automatically deleted - I
don't even get the message. Now I have changed those settings so that my Spam
goes into a special folder on their website - it is still not downloaded to me.
Every couple of days I go in and see what I've got, and there are usually one
or two addresses that are not spam at all, and I flag them as OK and download
them to my mail software, where they appear marked as "Junk".

This morning, one of those messages was a normal Arachne message from Jeri. It
had the subject line "Spangles!" and I can see why it was flagged - the subject
has an exclamation mark. That's one of the things that triggers Spam filters,
and I try not to use them.

Hope this helps. I only found out what was happening because I remembered about
the new legislation and complained to my service provider.
