I have found the reverse of that problem - where the threads on the left side (fan edging) grew tighter, and those on the right side (footside) lost their twist! I was working with just one type of thread throughout

Subject: [lace] Lace Scarves

I am currently working on a Scarf from a 1999 copy of the Lace Magazine, its designed by Brenda Paternoster, based on logarithmic lace. I am using a ball of crochet thread from Lidl with a sparkle in it and a green crochet thread probably from the same shop. I am finding that the bobbins on the right in the sparkle thread wind themselves tighter while those on the left unwind, and conversely, so I am now winding different ways depending on which thread and which side of the lace I am working.
