The picot braids in a square pattern look to me like the 'purl edged braid
squares' shown on pages 75 and 25 of "Honiton Lace: A collection of
rediscovered fillings" but in this case the purls are only on one side of
the braid not both.
I look forward to hearing what others think, as I am not a Honiton expert
