Just my two cents worth.

I would be afraid that putting the strap under your arm would probably not
work as well because that certainly isn't the way they describe using it and
the upper body has a better chance of falling forward in the event of a
collision.  IMHO.  Goes back to the basic "follow the directions" rule.  I was
certainly lucky to have had mine over my shoulder in a collision a few years
ago.  Saved my life, I would say.  It is probably 6 of one and half dozen of
the other, whether the strap is harmful...and there is always the legality...I
do recall my hubby's chest was bruised and that was the reason given.  Air
bags are just as iffy.

Who would think that life could be so complicated.  How about those horse and
buggy days.....They may not have had what we have...but are all our choices
that great?
