Ohh, I really like the "esthetics" of this Jo!
"...Bobbin lace is nothing more than pairs of threads dancing arround, changing
partners and turning arround pins. You can keep it as simple as pairs following
elegant lines on a pattern, or as intrigueing as sodokus requiring experience
to find clues for exiting shades and shapes...." Jo
On the aside, unfortunately I agree about the puzzles comment. I hate puzzles,
but love lace, and though I love Sudoku and do it daily, many I know would stay
away with that reference.
Telling the bare basics and the benefit, which would be joy or an end-product
(in this case some may not persevere to an end-product?).
In Adv/Mktg. they say education is hardest to sell, and that one must assume
that everyone is a "rock," crudely put. So very simple terms, such as "two
stitches" and not too much terminology that would overwhelm would be good.
Some will just have it hit their "gut" that they should do it, others have
wondered about it before, and then newcomers, so if it sounds simple and
appealing, they will bite!
Perhaps run your two lines by someone who doesn't do lace. A neutral person
who knows nothing of it (perhaps also a male?), or another needleworker who
doesn't know how to do lace, would be a good test?
You have gotten plenty of ideas already though! Enough to go on! <S>

Susan Reishus
