Yes, I have had several versions of Solaris (sol10, SXCE and SXDE) in my X40 and does work very fine, no problems. I think that your laptop is Solaris-compatible too, you only need some time for tunning...
The only bad thing of this laptop is the hard-disk, it's a 1.8 PATA with special ZIF (inverted) connector, so if this hard disk fails, the replacement is very expensive :-( This message posted from opensolaris.org
