I discovered this for upgrading: http://mail.opensolaris.org/pipermail/indiana-discuss/2010-February/017592.html
but again it all depends on my tty input working in which it doesn't. If someone can help me figure that out I'd really be grateful. I am not sure if it's something to do with the reboot bug that I mentioned before that my notebook simply refuses to start again and I can't see what's going on due to no tty output on the screen but graphical splash where diagnostic text needs to be. I am sure it's something the case of turning off boot-silent as it's called on Linux; title opensolaris-2 findroot (pool_rpool,0,a) bootfs rpool/ROOT/opensolaris-2 splashimage /boot/solaris.xpm foreground d25f00 background 115d93 kernel$ /platform/i86pc/kernel/$ISADIR/unix -B $ZFS-BOOTFS,console=graphics module$ /platform/i86pc/$ISADIR/boot_archive which is my current BE from /rpool/boot/grub/menu.lst perhaps taking the console=graphics out might render things usable although I'm simply not sure!
