I would use suggest keeping current, with 3.3 (although I believe that a patch release, 3.3.1 will be coming out very shortly, to address a regression in simplelayout).
The implementation of linechart, so far as I am aware, is the same in 3.2 and 3.3. Remember, please, that I'm just the documentation guy, so I may be off base.
