I has the same problems. Therefore, I already suggested to edit
configure-pstoimg and replace all
sequences "die <<" with "print <<". Then, after looking at the diags,
examine carefully the generated "local.pm"
and check the actual path of all executables. In that case, correct the
value of $GS and $GS_LIB.

This could be corrected by editing the Override.pm files and its
references in latex2html and other perl executables.
