I am new to this discussion group, so please
accept my apologies, if this is trivial or if
I am doing something stupid.

I have a LaTeX document that I used to run
through latex2html version 96.1 and everything
was fine. Now I have upgraded to 98.1p1 (under
RedHat 5.3 Linux).

First, latex2html complained about too large
regular expressions, but it stopped when I
split the file into smaller chunks. The problem
that I am having now is that several sections
of the document are replicated, with all the
replicas except for the last one truncated.
For example, this is a fragment of the table
of contents:

         ....
     2. Lexical notes: naming conventions
     3. Lexical notes: naming conventions
     4. Extensions of standard arithmetic
          4.1 Simple integer types
     5. Extensions of standard arithmetic
          5.1 Simple integer types
         ....

and so on (the problem repeats itself with other
sections). When I look at the files, I see that
section 2 is truncated (very close to the
beginning), but section 3 contains a complete
text of what should rightfully be section 2.
Similarly with sections 4/4.1 and 5/5.1.
The program was called in the following way:

latex2html -address "..." -show_section_numbers -split +3 manual

Needless to say, LaTeX processes the source file
without any problems or complaints.

Has anybody experienced a similar problem?
Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance,

Kris
