HI Terry,

Strange accusation you make about Kennedy being the most responsible for
the war in Viet Nam. I thought you knew your history better than that.
Rumors had it that Kennedy was assassinated because he was intent on
ending the war in Viet Nam and bringing the troops home. This did not
set well with the military industrial complex and they aided in the
conspiracy to kill him. Now, I don't believe that one bit. I think
Oswald acted alone. But it is a valid point that anyone would give that
as a motive for a conspiracy and its basis (ie Kennedy wanting to end the
war) is valid.

As you should know the first US advisors went to Viet Nam under
Eisenhower after the French forces were defeated in 1954.

Clearly the individual most responsible for the escalation of our
involvement in the war was Lyndon Johnson. This view is enforced by the
many heretofore confidential papers and tapes that are now being made
public. Many historians feel that if Kennedy had not been assassinated
the US involvement in Viet Nam would have been over by 1966.
