Perhaps some people do not know that recently the brother-in-law of Gerry
Adams was murdered. There is not the slightest evidence he was involved in
anyway with any terrorism against the English. I would guess there are few
members of the IRA themselves who cannot tell tales of brutal killings and
other mistreatment that have not personally touched the lives of most
Englishmen. If people must dwell on the evil of the other side then we
might as well talk about the brutal genocide practiced by England against
the Irish and forget about peace.
Along with Mac and most others I think it would be best to look to the
future, with the past understood as a lesson rather than a source of excuses
for injustice. Don't you agree, Steve?
Long ago my sister asked my father what he would think if she brought a
black date home. He was not overly encouraging. Then she asked if it would
be alright if she brought an Englishman home. Dad told her, "Bring the
black guy."
You would be as welcome as the black guy if you came home with my daughter,
Steve. As long as you leave your guns at home. :-}
Best, Terry
