Aaargh. I screwed up.
Swift's satire suggested a solution to the problem of the famine in Ireland.
He would have had the least productive members of Irish society (the
infants) sold for English fine dining.
The article was a diatribe that passionately but quite accurately described
the famine. The blight affected Irish potatoes but the famine was caused
more by the shipment of potatoes to England which regarded starvation of
Irish a side benefit.
I only meant to say that an Englishman like Swift confirmed and condemned
the English actions. What happened has been largely ignored by the
English-speaking world and there is little appreciation for the terrorism of
the IRA.
I condemn all terrorism directed at innocents but there is usually an
underlying reason.
