You seem or your company seems to mixing and confusing license with cost. If you read any of the license that come with Microsoft they don't say anything about what it did or did not cost. They only refer to your rights as to how you can use it. That is all the GPL is. It indicates your rights as a user. It doesn't imply or indicate if the product cost your anything or not. As mentioned neither does any other license from any company. All you need to inform your company is that the product is licensed as GPL with portions LGPL which means you and they have full rights to use the product.
