Since there's VCL.net port from Borland, Lazarus could also support .NET and
do similar port of its GUI libs in the future.

You got it all backwards. Exactly because there is VCL.NET and also
Chrome is that we definetively don't need a Free Pascal port to .NET,
after all Object Pascal users are already well served by those .NET
compilers.

Our time is better spent on things like: more PDA platforms,
web-development (something similar to IntraWeb for lazarus, but
cross-platform), Unicode support, etc.

If you feal that .NET framework has things that Lazarus cannot do yet,
please post a feature idea here:
