David,

I would personally like to stay away from any sort of info on modding, or interior features of MLS for now on the Wiki. If, however, you were to get explicit permission from the Church to do so, I would be willing to reconsider. I just want to be very careful about internals of software containing membership and financial data being published through LDSOSS, and would prefer usage, FAQ's, etc. be posted instead. I don't want LDSOSS to be viewed as a group of "Hackers" to Church Leadership, whether intentional or not, so I try to stay as far away from the line as possible on that issue. I really appreciate the offer though, and encourage anyone to keep posting any other projects, info, documents, etc. that they feel would be useful on the wiki.

BTW, I hear Paul Johnson has some gedcom data comparison modules with his Gedcom.pm module that he could use some help testing and improving if anyone is looking for somewhere to help... He has done excellent work with this. :-)

Hello,

I'm considering adding two new
top-level projects onto the wiki.

1) MLS Filemap - This would list
                 what each file
                 of MLS does and
would probably also include the
                 interior .class
                 files of the .jar(s).

2) Modding MLS - This would include
                 all sorts of ways
                 of customizing MLS
                 from making your own
                 fill-in forms for the
                 Print Form option to
                 changing the graphics.

Before I submitted anything, I wan't to
clarify exactly what is off-limits to
discuss on the Wiki. I remember reading
somewhere that certain elements of the
database weren't to be discussed, but
can't remember which. Also, regarding
the transmission of data, can I mention
the protocol being used and leave off
details, or should I not mention the
protocol at all ?

Finally, has the group done any modding
on their own, and would like to
share their experiences.

Thanks,
Dave / Atticus
