I understand. We need to wait for the Church
to Open-source MLS, before we can be "Hackers".
Speaking of which, has anyone heard which
license the church will be using ?
I've heard they are chosing between
LDSPL, the Moroni Public License, and a new
one called CLS (Church Licensing System) which
is SLC backwards. Clever, huh?
Just to be clear, I personally take no issue with the term "Hackers". I
am simply referring to the derogatory implications that term has towards
non-computer 1337. ;-)
Perhaps a few articles of Open Source Software
and how they have been useful in church-related
work would be in order. I personally like the
OpenOffice.org 2.0 suite, pdftk, and some
freeware utilities(which I use to compress
readable HTML to a stream the Ward Website
likes. A sed script could do the same thing
but I like-a the GUI.)
Another thing we could do, so another Church
News article can be written about how ldsoss.org
are NOT Hackers, is to get one of you
Utah folks' contacts to get us permission to
turn the PDF forms that are currently spread
throughout the lds.org domain into fill-in
.pdf forms.
All excellent ideas. I even think a page of fun LDS jokes would be a
fun OT section of the website, especially if we could relate them to
OSS. :-)
