That is step one.  I was mostly able to do that (with errors).

The CD _is_ the target installation.  It serves to get it up and running
to the point where it can use BOOTP to obtain an NFS mount point.  You put
your target code in the appropriate directory on your host, and the target
sees it in its mounted root.  This is, of course, for getting familiar
with HHL and its development environment, and a different boot method
would be used in the final product.

In our case, the final product would probably be a generic 486, but I
don't see support for that.
