No, no.... I didn't mean switch init systems, it was a gentle reminder if you _tried_ to look in init system of Oxygen. The biggest difference is Oxygen's use of 'apkg' and 'snarf', which makes the entirety run better together. Further, you don't need a EEPROM to flash, you replace syslinux w/pxeboot (developed by the same group) that allows you to use virtually any NIC because the loader is on a physical disk. Oxygen is related because you can use it to load a remote image or packages and (I think) packages from multiple sources. Personally, I would be against loading of packages _after_ the init sequence because of the possibility of problems that would likely instigate. Rather, there should be a choice of places to download the initial packages from instead. Check out David D's 'snarf' package for more idea's.
I will, I am just doubtful on the pxeboot side when it comes to PCMCIA NIC's, here is a link I found for etherboot
