I'm getting a "host not found" when I try to browse www.mesatronics.com
A "whois" query fails too.

Hmm... if $100 to $300 US is the going range, I'd probably lean toward
the "SmartIDE - Smart Media to IDE adapter" from:
  http://www.mesanet.com/diskcardinfo.html
that I posted earlier ($98 US + ~$15 US for a 32MB SM card.)  Plus, SM
is bootable and can be made WP via a metallic sticker on the card.  The
datasheet for it say it uses "30mA max when active and 5mA inactive." I
e-mailed them some questions a couple of days ago but still haven't
gotten a response.

Also, I'm not sure if it'd be much of a concern for this application,
but I believe flash type memory has limited write cycles.  I don't know
if SM is limited in this way.
