Quick question: Can I have my SpeedTouch Home (ethernet flavour) handle all the PPPOE aspects of my DSL connection or must I have a PPPOE client on my Dach box? I'd like to avoid having to rebuild my Dach box with a PPPOE client, if at all possible.

I liked my previous high-speed cable service, where all I had to do was have my dach box be a dhcp client.

If it (all PPPOE handling) can be done with the STHome how do I do it? I've followed all the instructions that I could find on the net (nuke all phonebook entries, add in a phonebook entry for ppp, add the ppp element, set to AlwaysOn, etc) but still no love. In the phonebook I use the VC/VP entry that works 100% when in 'bridged' mode, namely 0/35.

I'm located in Pickering, Ontario. My ISP is NutNBut.Net but I feed from a local BellCanada CO and thus should be able to do this if Sympatico users can do it.

Thanks,
scott

BTW: I have upgraded the firmware to the latest revision, .281 and have performed the hack to enable 'Pro' features on my 'Home' model.

I am presently able to connect my WinXP box to this modem, and using XP's built-in PPPOE support can connect onto the internet so everything is in workable shape.
