Maybe the best way to solve this is make a note of "modules.dep" somewhere in the FAQ?Good idea. May I also encourage mention (via a comment) within the actual /etc/modules file? I'm probably not the only one to jump in and go reading FAQ's & 'TFM's as an afterthought.
I don't see that happening (mainly since it would be hard to draw a line - why mention "crc32" and not other dependencies - sooner or later, the whole FAQ _will_ be on the floppy, which is obviously not the way to go (unless we drop floppies as a target media, which is another thing I don't see happening soon).
No offense - but when dealing with embedded stuff, documentation is the first thing that's dropped from the boot media and moved elsewhere.
BTW, within the /etc/modules file, it refers people to seek more modules from:Thanks for the pointer - should be corrected in the next beta/RC.
http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/leaf/bin/bering-uclibc/packages/
but this is actually the location of packages, not modules.
Myself, I wasn't particularly cognizant of the existence of a 'tarball' with all the modules therein - the modules used to be individually downloadable on the website.I don't recall that they ever were, at least not on the leaf website. But I may be wrong. I agree that it's too bad that one has to dowload several megabytes just for a 20k module - but at this point, there doesn't seem to be a way to easily handle that any other way within the LEAF site (space on the shell-servers is limited, pages linking to the modules need to be maintained and adding dozens of modules to the file-release system is obviously not a practical approach).
