Hi.
You can buy some kind of IDE flash (IDE DOM like Transcend one, or CF + 
chinese CF-IDE adapter, or SD + SD-IDE adapter - it's less preferred). 
Or you can try your luck with PLoP boot loader on floppy that will allow 
you to boot from USB.
In any case, IMHO floppy isn't a best choice, it may fail at any time...
I think that you may try 5.0 alpha releases - it's branch that enough 
stable and is in development, 4.x will not have future improvements, 
just bugfixes.
