I think I worded my question poorly. I will give more detail. All hardware is
Soekris 4521s
using wisp-disp.

I have the mother node (the node with a wired internet feed) working. I have nodes
that
have line of site to the mother node working, ospf is being used. I now wish to
extend the
wireless network beyond the line of site of the mother node.

I am assuming (perhaps incorrectly) that a repeater is needed to extend the network.
The repeater would have line of site to the mother node, and to another node in the
distance.

All interfaces on the mother node are in MASTER mode. My thinking is that all
interfaces
on the distant node are also in MASTER node.

My thinking is; if the repeater had two cards configured in MANAGED mode, and bridged
on layer 2 would do the trick. One of the managed cards would associate with the
mother node. The other managed card would associate with the distant node.

Is this reasonable? Is there a better way to configure nodes to extend the range of
the
wireless network? I am trying to avoid WDS, but I may be forced to use it. BTW, how
is
a card placed in WDS mode in wisp-disp?
