Assets:Accounts:Eric's Personal Account ; or company account with some sort
of note? or debt?

Expenses:Salaries:Bob 5000 RMB
Expenses:Salaries:Alice 5000 RMB

2011/02/20 Actually paid Bob and Alice
Liabilities:Debt ; I'm just making this up

2011/03/05 Made money back

There's also a HKD -- RMB conversion, just to make things more fun.
So just working out this much I'm thinking this will have something to
do with liabilities, but I would very much appreciate it if someone
could show me how this sort of thing should be done!

That last entry requires you to have done the conversion, and implicitly
values 1 HKD @ 20 RMB (I have no idea what the real rate is).
Hope this provides an idea. Others may have more experience, and even
better ideas!
