Ledger users, John has graciously allowed me to coordinate work on the ledger 3 documentation. I will be working on a fork of the source at GIT and having John pull changes periodically.
If any of you have specific suggestions for the documentation that don't quite make it to the level of "edits" or you just don't want to hassle with Texinfo, please send them directly to me (you can copy the list at your discretion). Items that may require community discussion (like changing "Income" to "Revenue" as suggested by David Gilman) will be forwarded to John and he can decide if he wants the discussion to move forward on the list. I don't see any major changes in the structure of the documentation in the long term, but for the short term I would like to start a collection of ledger incantations you are all using that may be examples of ledger usage. I will catalog them and and put them into a "cookbook" section in the documentation that can stand as a placeholder until the documentation reaches a useable stage. As an example, one entry in the cook book will deal with the "group-by" feature for tags that I recently asked about on the list. I will scour the list for more examples. As the list grows it will help me with the descriptive side of the users manual. John, of course will be the ultimate authority on correctness and detailed usage. I have been using ledger for about three months now, and have really come to appreciate it. I will appreciate it even more when I really understand how to use it, and this documentation project is just the way to go about it.
