Personally I don't think another mailing list is needed. If you wanted some
discussion place you could make a irc/gitter channel, and link it on the
plaintextaccounting website. I like gitter as it makes it easy for people
to join from the web, and you can scroll back and read everything without
having to have been in the channel the whole time. There's a gitter-irc-bot
that you can deploy to Heroku for free to then link it to an irc channel if
you want that too.

The benefit of a mailing list saves everything for later, gitter does this,
but if you want irc then I'd suggest something like https://botbot.me/ to
allow easy access to the logs. I think a lot of good stuff gets posted to
irc which gets lost, people often ask a quick question there vs. sending an
email out...in my opinion.

That /r/ledger is basically not used, so I'd make your own and it'll align
with the #plaintextaccounting tag and naming. You could do some cross
pollination in /r/personalfinance subreddits and linux / commandline etc.
once you've established it a little.

*I may be wrong about some things with gitter, I've only used it a tiny
amount myself.
