I'll admit that I'm not all that familiar with Mint, but I'd understood
that it is mainly based on Ubuntu?
If there is also a version directly derived from Debian ('jessie'?),
that's one thing. jessie itself has 1.3.40 (which has issues with the
package...). jessie-backports currently has v1.4.30. Debian testing has
v1.4.32, which is also available on apt.ledgersmb.org. Ubuntu yakkety also
has v1.4.32. And our lanuchpad ppa, at
https://launchpad.net/~ledgersmb/+archive/ubuntu/main/+packages, as v1.4.32
for 16.04 & 14.04.
Essentially; it is a good idea to get a 1.4.x version installe to
evaluate ledgersmb, but one method needs to be chosen.
